The way of Jesus (part 2): ' I am the way'

‘ Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

                                                                                                                                (John 14:6)


Jesus did not introduce Himself as ‘a way among many ways to the Father’.

He is the way. There is no other way to the Father except through Him.

Jesus described Himself as the Truth and the Life. It means that there is no Life and no Truth outside of Him.
When Jesus calls us to achieve a specific purpose, He is not only calling us to the realisation of the purpose but He is also calling us to achieve it His way.

We cannot achieve our calling in Jesus outside of His way. In other words, we cannot live the Truth and the Life that Jesus has for us by using our own methods.

If I had to use a worldly example to describe the ‘way of Jesus’ when it comes to achieving our purpose, then I will use a school classroom example.

In a school class, learners are only allowed to move to the next grade upon passing an exam and the exam can only be passed by applying the methods and answers given by the teacher or the school. A school learner cannot pass an exam by using methods and answers other than the ones received from the teacher. In the Body of Christ, a person can stay at the same ‘school grade for decades’ simply because they prefer to apply all the methods apart from the ones provided by Jesus.

No one can achieve a God given purpose without doing it God’s way.

God is not a cruel person. When He reveals the end result of a purpose, a mission or a goal. He will also reveal the path, or the method to be used in order to achieve that purpose.

Many Christians fail in achieving God’s purpose, not because they don’t like it, but because they don’t like the way to achieve it.

Jesus is the Way. He is the Word. Since He is the word, He will speak the method to achieve your God given purpose.

Just trust Him.
