SAVING IS AN INDICATOR OF WISDOM
‘The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.’ (NIV)
(Proverbs 21:20)
Saving is an indicator or wisdom.
I have heard a few preachers speaking against savings while describing it as an anti-faith tool.
In John 6:1-13, Jesus ordered his disciples to take all leftovers from the food that was miraculously produced to feed 5000 people. If Jesus Himself stood against wastage by saving leftovers, then such action should lead us into valuing ‘savings’ more.
In proverbs 13:22, the Bible says: ‘A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.’
This means that ‘savings’ are not designed for hoarding but for spending in the future for self and others.
