SIN WILL REWARD WITH DEATH

As much as God is good, His goodness does not revoke the fact that He does not tolerate sin.

In the parable of the talents, the lazy had committed a form of wickedness (ref. Matthew 25:26) and in Matthew 7:21-23, the false disciples are called ‘evil doers’ due to their desire to live in sin.

Regardless of what we think, sin is simply a form of wickedness that causes death.

In Romans 6:23, Paul wrote that the reward of sin is death. Interestingly, Paul does not limit the concept of death to physical death. The word ‘death’ has an open ended meaning. In other words, the wages of sin is the death of anything.

A sin that is practiced perpetually will eventually cause the death of something or somebody. It could cause the death of a marriage, a family, a reputation, a relationship, a dream, a business, a church, a ministry, a nation, a career…and a physical death.

If sin rewards with death then it means that sin is a clear form of wickedness that carries harm and danger around.

I can’t tell you the number of times I heard people being negatively affected by a sin they either committed themselves or a sin committed by others against them.

For this reason, though God loves the sinner, He cannot tolerate sin because sin will ultimately hurt someone or something through death.

Sin creates victims and unnecessary traumas coupled with damages.

Therefore, because God is a good God and He wants to protect you, me and people around us against the negative effect of sin, He calls the sinner to repent and change his/her ways.

Believe me: ‘there is enough wickedness going around the world right now and there is no need to add up to that wickedness through sin.’

If someone needs to repent front their sins, let him/her repeat this prayer:

‘God,

I repent from my sin of (name the sin/sins) and I commit to change my ways.
Teach through your grace to live righteous and to shine your light to the world.

Amen.’
