God so loved the world that He gave
‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’
(John 3:16)
‘Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
(Genesis 1:26)
When God wanted to save the world, He did not just speak about it and He did not limit Himself to a promise. When God wanted to express His love, He did not just say: ‘I love you world.’
When God wanted to express His love to the world, He GAVE His Son to the world.
A life of giving is a life that expresses love.
How would a child feel if he hears his parents tell him that they love him without ever giving him anything?
Imagine a husband telling his wife that he loves her but he never gives her anything.
Imagine a wife telling her husband that she loves him but she never gives him anything.
Does that even sound like love?
And please don’t just limit your thinking to money. When we give, we can give gratitude, respect, food, dedication, various gifts and also money.
In Romans 12:1, the Bible says: ‘ Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.’
The Bible calls us to offer our bodies as living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. That’s what proper worship is.
Proper worship goes beyond just the words we use but it also includes our ability to give our bodies to God.
In Genesis 1:26, the Bible says that God made us in his likeness. Since God is a giver, we should also reflects the giving nature of God in the way that we live.
A lifestyle of giving presents an opportunity to live on purpose for others and for a goal greater than ourselves.
Here is a question: ‘imagine if God was not a giver, where would we be?’
Giving is essential for your life and the lives of others.
