Today, I want to speak about two concepts that will help you elevate your life on Earth to practical supernatural heights: ‘Lord and free-will’.
When God appeared to Abraham in Genesis 12, the Bible ascribed the title ‘Lord’ to God. In Hebrew, the original version of the word ‘Lord’ is Adonai.
The name ‘Adonai’ means ‘Master or Owner’.
It is interesting that we often call our God by referring to the expression ‘Lord’ without really thinking about the meaning of the term ‘Lord’.
The term ‘Lord’ means ‘Owner’ and this should serve as a reminder to all of us that God owns everything: ‘our lives, our bodies, our souls, He owns us.’
You see, in our society, there are moral norms that guide our behavior towards things that belong to others. Most of us respect the things that belong to other people. We respect other people’s properties by treating them as their owners would want us to treat them. Should we manifest a form of disrespect towards other people’s properties, we would then be crossing lines also referred to as ‘violations’. Such violations often incur penalties.
Even in our relationship with God, we ought to understand that our life is not our own. Therefore, we ought to live in a way that aligns with His will. We ought to treat God’s property (our lives) in the manner in which God would want His property (our lives) to be treated.
Many people don’t realise the gravity and intensity of giving their lives to Christ. The confession we make as stipulated in Romans 10:9 implies that we consider Jesus as our Lord.
This also implies that every time we act against his ownership with our lives, we are violating or trespassing the rules of His ownership.
Since my life belongs to Him, I cannot decide to violate or ignore His commands.
In Matthew 7:21, Jesus said that only those who do the will of His Father shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven. This implies two things:
The Heavens belong to God. God is the Owner and He reserves the right of entry.
Our current life on Earth represents the sole indicator confirming whether we respect the will of the Owner (God) on His property (our lives). There are no other opportunities, apart from our current lives on Earth, to show whether we respect the Ownership of God.
Now, let’s talk about ‘free-will’ because some people believe that in Heaven and in the after-life, there is no free-will.
I disagree with that assumption. If there was no free-will in the Heavens, then the ‘Sons of God’ would have never left their dwellings to marry the daughters of men (reference Genesis 6:1-2). Furthermore, if there was no free-will in the Heavens, then Satan and his demonic angels would have never parted ways with God.
Since there is free will in the Heavens, it makes sense that God watches our ability to do His will on this Earth as an indicator pointing towards our desire to continue doing His will in the Heavens. It therefore makes sense that He would only allow in Heaven those who would be doing His will on Earth.
Think about that.
