You were created to do good works

“ The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.''

(Genesis 2:15)

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’

(Ephesians 2:10)

In Genesis 2:15, God takes the man and plants him in the Garden of Eden. The verse is clear: “God placed Adam in the garden to work on the Garden and to take care of it.”

In Ephesians 2:10, the Bible is also very clear: “there are some good works that God had prepared in advance for us to do.”

You and I were created in Christ Jesus to do specific good works that God had prepared in advance.

I know that for many people, this message comes as a shocker because they hate the word ‘work’.

Let me be clear, those works are not works to get salvation. The works of salvation were done by Jesus.

Simply because we are saved, it does not mean that there is nothing to do. On the contrary, you and I have a mission already designed by God and we have to answer the call of our mission. That’s what we were created for.

Therefore, it matters that you get to know your destiny or why you are here on Earth.

Responding to objections:

I know that people will flood my email inbox with this comment: “ we cannot save ourselves through work.”

I never claimed that we are saved through our works. The works of salvation were done by Jesus alone.

However, once we are saved, there are things to do.

There are too many ‘church goers’ who do absolutely nothing and they hide behind strange excuses to justify their idleness.Even if they don’t believe the Scripture included in Ephesians 2:10, do they really think that they are supposed to sit on a couch for the remainder of their days after accepting Christ? In a world that is in flames, many ‘church goers’ believe that there is nothing to do.

The Gospel came to you because someone decided to work and preach it to you.

The Good works

‘Good works’ is not just a reference to any good works. There are specific good works which God created for you.’

You have to know what God has called you to do. And the term ‘works’ does not only refer to preaching but it also includes a wider range of work.

God placed Adam in the Garden to work on it. It means that the Garden needed human work for maintenance. When no work is done, there is chaos.

The world is in chaos because Christians are either not working on their divine calling or they are busy doing the wrong works.

I will repeat again: ‘You were created in Christ Jesus to do good works prepared by God. You need to know what those works are. Once you know them, embrace them in practice.”
