Overcomers (part 1): How to overcome Fear

The fear I am referring to has nothing to do with reasonable prudence. By reasonable prudence, I am referring to decisions we make to protect ourselves against dangers that are not part of our God given purpose.

In this post, when I speak about fear, I am referring to fear that overwhelms us during moments where we are supposed to do the will of God.

That kind of fear has befelt upon many and it has also discouraged many from doing the will of God.

We all have levels of fear depending on our life missions

In 1 John 4:18, the Bible states: “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

It took me some time to understand the passage of 1 John 4:18 but the best way to understand the passage is by living a practical example.

When we truly love, we become capable of overlooking any reason to fear or any source of fear.

When applying ourselves in our life purpose, the reason why many let themselves submerged by fear is because of the absence of love for the people we are supposed to bless and for God.

Don’t be fooled, in your God given purpose, everything that you are commanded to do is supposed to bless someone. Therefore, you cannot walk into your God given mission if you lack love for the people your mission is supposed to impact.

Some people think that they can just walk into their God given purpose while lacking love for people. It’s not going to work! Not on any given day! Never!

During your God given mission, there will be many times where the enemy will launch reasons to fear. But when you will gather love for the people you are supposed to bless, you will overcome by ignoring the fear.

The same principle applies to every other area of our God given mission.

When God sends you to preach the Gospel, it is not about you. It is to ensure that people get saved. When you realize that people are about to go to hell, you will overcome your fear by embracing love for those people.

When God sends you in a specific sector of society, you will overcome any suggestive fear by embracing love for the people who are supposed to benefit from your God given mission.

Love will make you travel kilometers,

Love will make you give. People who don’t give are often self-centered.

Love will make you work for others.

Love will push you to have visions bigger than yourself in order to accommodate others in it.

When it comes to God given mission, you will overcome fear by being considerate of the people your mission is supposed to bless.

Don’t forget this:’Simply because you are a God-sent, it does not mean that people will not reject you. Sometimes the people you will be sent to, may reject you. Sometimes they will accept you. Jesus Himself was rejected and yet He completed His mission.

Remember that we do it because we love people and also because we love God.

Jesus even said: ‘If you love me, you will obey my commands.” (John 14:15)

Overcome fear by awakening love for people and love for God
