Spiritual warfare study (part 2): Strength in the Lord and in His Mighty Power

''Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.'

(Ephesians 6:10-18)

The opening verse of the above passage exhorts us to be strong in the Lord and in His Mighty Power. The famous passage of Ephesians, written by the Apostle Paul and which gives us an introduction on spiritual warfare, initially exhorts us to be strong in the Lord and His Mighty Power.

Why is the Apostle Paul exhorting us to be strong in the Lord and His Mighty Power?

Here is the answer: ' when you are in warfare mode, you initially have to be strong in the Lord and His Mighty Power. The Bible does not say that we have to be strong by ourselves or in any form natural power. The Bible says that our strength has to be in God.

For today' study, this is what I want you to remember:

1. When the devil will come to attack, he must find you strong in the Lord and in His Mighty Power. If he finds you weak or shallow in the Lord, he may devour you. And in the worst case scenario, he may even recruit you to work for him.

2. In the body of Christ, though we are all children of God, our respective obedience, fellowship and intimacy with God differs from one person to another.

Some Christians are strong in the Lord and His Mighty Power

Some Christians are weak in the Lord and His Mighty Power

Some others are just shallow in the Lord and His Mighty Power.

The difference between those above mentioned Christians rely on their willingness to hear and practice the words of the Lord.

In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus said:

“So then, anyone who hears these words of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain poured down, the rivers flooded over, and the wind blew hard against that house. But it did not fall, because it was built on rock.

“But anyone who hears these words of mine and does not obey them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain poured down, the rivers flooded over, the wind blew hard against that house, and it fell. And what a terrible fall that was!”

This is the explanation of the parable:

The rain, the flooding rivers and the wind represent satan the devil. The house on the sand represents the people who hears God but never obeys. The house on the rock represents the people who hear God and obey; those people are strong in the Lord and His Mighty Power.

You see my friend, the person who built his house on the Rock held its strength in hearing and obeying God. When satan the devil comes to attack you, he must find you on the Rock, he must find you strong in the Lord and His Mighty Power. Your warfare strategy must start before the devil launches an attack on you.

But if you are the type of person who never obeys to God, then you will be weak and on the day of the attack, you will be swept away.

This explains why we have many Christians who get blown up by the devil and in some cases, they even get killed by witches and satanists.

Whether you are a strong or a shallow Christians, the problems and attacks will certainly come. However, those that are strong in the Lord, are the ones who will withstand the attacks of the enemy.

There are many strong Christians that the enemy cannot blow because they have cultivated a life of obedience towards the word of the Lord. When satan comes to them, he fails to destroy or recruit them.

Do not underestimate obedience towards the Lord.

Here is a good question:

'How does satan recruit Christians to his cause? Is it even possible?'

I have seen with my own eyes Christians, servants of God who gave their souls away to satan for fame, money, influence and power. Many of those sold out people are running churches and ministries. They rely on demonic spirits to perform deceiving miracles...

Let me explain how the recruiting process works:

You see my friend, Jesus in John 14:15 says: 'If you love Me, keep my commands". In other words, our obedience to God's words display our love to Him. (Please read carefully what I am writing because many of you are hanging on a balance where the enemy is trying to snatch you.)

When the enemy comes to attack you, he must find in you a person who has cultivated a life of obedience which displays your love to God. Not only should you be an obedient person but also a lover of God. A true lover of God will not sell his/her soul to the devil when he comes to recruit them.

I know some of you might wonder if satan truly recruits people...but know that in John 10:10, Jesus said that the 'thieves come to steal and kill and destroy..'

The enemy has already stolen many of our church members who became occultists and members of strange secret cults.

You need to get to the point where you can confidently say with the Apostle that:

' Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long;

we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.'' (Romans 8:35-38)

If you live a life on the fence, where you obey whenever it is suitable, I implore you to change and to build your life on the Rock. Times are now evil and your day of facing the enemy may come anytime.

Be strong in the Lord and in His Mighty Power.
