Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.
(Proverbs 4:7)

Wisdom is the principal thing.

I will be very direct in this post. Here is the thing:

'Wisdom comes with honor and riches' (reference Proverbs 8:18). The opposite of honor is a life of shame and the opposite of riches is a life of poverty. In many cases (not all cases), the absence of honor (dignity) and riches in someone's life can be caused by a refusal to embrace and apply the Wisdom from above.

The Bible states that the 'Fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom'( ref. Proverbs 9:10). Furthermore, the Bible does not say that 'the Fear of the Lord' is the continuity or the highest point of Wisdom. The Fear of the Lord is only the beginning.
If there is a beginning to Wisdom, it also means that there is an increase in Wisdom.

So, how can we increase in Wisdom?

One verse can respond to the above question:

Proverbs 11:30 states that 'The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise.'

Whoever wins souls, automatically gets wisdom. Winning souls involves bringing lives to salvation.

Soul winners gets Wisdom because God uses them as vessels to populate Heaven. Soul winners use their speech, their writings, and various means of communication to share their convincing arguments. It logically makes sense that God will fill them with Wisdom so that their convincing messages bear sound arguments.

The increment of Wisdom filled into soul winners stays with them to the point of developing skills which they can use in various life situations.

A short testimony about my past experience

I started blogging in 2008, took a 'silly' hiatus for 4 years and then I returned to blogging in 2012. My blogging activities solely focused on teaching the Word of God and winning souls to populate Heaven.
Serving the Lord and Teaching His Word through blogging was one of the best decision I have ever made...

By teaching the Word of God through blogging, I gained various technical skills related to: coding, online marketing, website design, and English writing among others....
Those skills were gained without attending an IT or business school.
In 2017, I got a job as Training consultant in a private political firm based in Johannesburg. The organization I joined was struggling to sell its training courses to international clients and there was a need for a proper strategy. My main task was to ensure the successful sale of our training products.

In view to address the issue, I borrowed the exact strategies I used in my blogging career and I applied them at my new workplace. I revamped some of the company websites and I set up a marketing strategy copied from my blogging work....and it worked wonders: 'within a month, we could successfully sell our programs to international clients'.

Colleagues at work were wondering how was I able to do such things without a MBA or a Marketing qualification. But I knew that it was through the Wisdom from above accrued through years serving God and winning souls.

'Winning souls for God' will increase Wisdom in you. It will change the way you communicate with friends, acquaintances, potential clients. It will develop your thinking capacities. You will be a better business person, a better worker, a better communicator...

Whether you win souls in large or small numbers, you will still get Wisdom. These days, I teach the Word of God to an audience close to 25 000 readers but from 2012 to 2016, I had only about 250 subscribers to my online ministry. In 2012, I only had 10 readers as subscribers for the whole year but it did not change the fact that I was gaining in Wisdom.
I say this so that you do not underestimate the small amount of people you influence for Christ.

There is Wisdom in winning souls.

Win souls.
